Garment Care

We recommend washing all garments before use, the garment may contain excess dye and starch from the production. Excess color can cause discoloration of furniture and skin. Wash new items separately to prevent other garments discoloration.

Always follow washing instructions on the care label inside the garment. By doing so you can extend the life cycle of the garment's function, form and color. Do not wash your garments more than necessary, it saves both the environment and prolongs the garments life time. Close all zippers, buttons, velcro and use an environmentally friendly detergent. We do not recommend using fabric softener on our shell garments because it clogs the fibers and thereby the ventilation is reduced.

Wool garments

Items containing wool does not need to be washed as frequently, it is usually sufficient to air the garment since the wool itself is antibacterial. Wool is washed at 85-90°F, no tumble dry.

Shell garments with protective surface

Wipe the garment if it is dirty instead of machine wash and air dry or use a drying cabinet afterwards. It is important to re-impregnate your shell garments when you notice that the outer cover begins to deteriorate, the water droplets will run off the fabric without absorbing moisture. There are several different impregnation methods. Spray, washing machine impregnation or wax. Follow the respective impregnation instructions for the best protection.

Outdoor pants in polyester / cotton

Wash the pants at 100-110°F separately and avoid tumble drying. If you want your trousers more water resistant, you can impregnate them in the washing machine during washing or impregnate with wax. When waxing bright garments might become slightly darker in shade with several layers of wax. Every layer increases water repellency. The advantage of wax is that it protects against dirt and water and prolongs the life time of the garment. Wax is easily washed out in the washing machine. Nikwax makes impregnation for the washing machine. Heat Wax is available in our web shop.

Outdoor pants with waterproof parts

Follow the washing instructions on the garment. They can be impregnated with spray, washing impregnation or our own Heat Wax.

Soft shell garments

Follow washing instructions on the garment and do not use fabric softener, it clogs the pores of the garment and decreases breathability. Soft shell garments have an impregnated surface to make the surface water repellent. The impregnation wears away during use and the water repellency decreases gradually. Wipe the garment, wash when needed and impregnate to keep the material properties.

Fleece garments

Wash fleece garments inside out and use environmentally friendly fabric softener to avoid static electricity in the garment. Follow the washing instructions for each garment.

Cotton and Bamboo

Follow the washing instructions on the garment. Do not tumble dry cotton and bamboo clothing as there is a risk of shrinkage. Bamboo has a silky surface and stays soft wash after wash.
